Colony
Original Rock Band 1991

The story of Colony is typical of many of my L.A. one-gig experiences. From a Musician's Institute posting, I was contacted in November, 1991 by the guitarist. He met me at a club, and gave me a copy of the independently-produced CD they had made two years before.

The music was an interesting mix of tribal rhythms with no "real" vocals. After rehearsing for a while, we had a set scheduled at one of the better Sunset strip clubs. It was a disaster from the start. The guitar player couldn't get his amp to work, and was fiddling with it for most of the set. It also appeared that some of the others had a bit too much weed before the show, and performance went south from there. I never saw any of them again, and I think they were too embarrassed to even call and apologize.

Here is the original lineup, although some of these folks had left the band before I joined:
David Silva - Drums
Karl Koch - Guitar, tribal grunts
Carl Byron - Keyboards
Rick May - Bass
